Close Call of the Day: Storm chaser William Phuoc and his buddies happened to be in the right place at the right time to capture footage of a spectacular cloud-to-ground lightning strike.
200 meters to the left, and it would have been particularly apt that this shoot took place in Darwin, Australia.

Empire State of Shock of the Day: NYC is My Muse, who is blessed with a priceless skyline view of Midtown Manhattan, happened to have a camera trained on the Empire State Building last night as lightning stuck it. Thrice.
I actually saw a fourth direct hit, but sadly wasn’t filming at the time. I’ve never seen so many hits on the ESB in one night. It was ridiculous! But so much fun to watch. Whoever said lightning doesn’t strike twice was wrong.
